«Thousand angels and one painting»: a new dawn in the history of painting

The Project «Thousand angels and one painting» is a giant oeuvre of a world-famous painter Lekim Ibragimov, whose artistic style is distinguished by the original manner of self-expression. The works of this painter are recognized for their poetical delicacy, fragile and often almost transparent brush strokes, richness of color nuances and tonal elaboration. The creative activity of the master is closely connected to the ancient oriental culture of Central Asia, which has helped him to gain a deserved recognition of the spectators.

Canvas of more than 528 square meters in size was inspired by the legends and events of the past, which have kept a right to be considered immortal. The art-project «Thousand angels and one painting» is an incarnation of the centuries-old wisdom, reflected in the well-known oriental tales from «One thousand and one nights» and in a magic of their numerical symbolism. The painter embodies in his oeuvres some kind of the desire to raise the veil of secrecy and mystical knowledge, of the charming beauty of the traditional oriental art, full of mystery and energy..

This giant masterpiece of art is a fusion of the ancient and modern art and consists of thousand and one paintings. Each of those small paintings is a completed piece of art by its content, and is individual by its thematic.
Each painting has its own plot and composition and is drawn in a very calligraphic style. Thousand heroes of this grandiose pageant are dependents of their unique destiny and keep a print of their unique existence. The most important thing is that a thousand of incorporeal guardian-angels are invisibly present in the life of each of these personages.

However, there is something which can unite all them in a single entity: an artistic metamorphosis of partial into integral. We see the beautiful images of oriental divas and heroes, powerful kings and mythical personages, stylistically adjusted images of animals and birds, colors of foliage and sky. And in every single story we contemplate an angel, individual and binding them all…

The author masterly creates an emotional history of «One thousand and one nights» by means of the appropriate coloring, airy space and tonal game. Artistic language of the painter is balancing on the edge of abstraction and naturalness, harmonized poetical atmosphere and reality. Techniques used by Lekim Ibragimov are capable to create the atmosphere of spiritual contact with the cultural heritage and art of the mysterious East.  At the center of every painting there is an instant, called a life, followed by an eternity; love and a way to it; inimitable symbiosis of Good and Evil; and, of course, an angel.

Each tiny part of this mega-painting, despite being very lyrical, looks very dynamic and symbolizes matters that all of us care about – a love story or secrets of nature, for example. In the oeuvre «Thousand angels and one painting» everything is subordinate to a unique idea of granting a viewer with one more touch of the great and unique history of fantastic travels on the Great Silk Road and images that have become legendary on the East. The role of small angels is transformed in this painting in a powerful quintessence of the Good and Eternity which accompanies each of us on our own predestined way.

It is not accidental that during the visual contact with this grandiose painting possessing an amazing attractive force, the viewer has an impression of conducting a dialogue and being introduced to the beautiful, kind and eternal truth, and wisdom of our ancestors.

The concept of work consists in original solution and presentation. It is a peculiar attempt to demonstrate the art of painting in a new, up to this moment unknown style, which the painter himself calls ‘metamorphosis of the image’. It is possible that such transformations are still within the power of nature, which easily changes the appearance of the caterpillar, for instance, making possible a birth of a butterfly out of a cocoon. Experimenting in the sphere of synthesis of different styles and cultures, Lekim Ibragimov with his oeuvre stands for rebirth of the ancient art school, creating new painting style which can occupy its own niche in line with the realism, cubism, post-modernism and other styles of contemporary art.

The task of the project «Thousand angels and one painting» is to amaze world community by uniqueness and delicacy of links between oriental painting and metaphorical poetry in the art, by means of demonstrating outstanding capabilities of the human’s fantasy and grandiose dimensions of Lekim’s creation. Each of the painted stories presented in the project will become an important part of this magic and deeply original mega-game.
